The results from PropertyShark’s annual report are in, and the most expensive zip codes in the U.S. for 2021 have been named. California once again came out on top, nabbing the majority of the top 10 spots and reigning supreme at #1 as well. In a battle of the coasts, a few affluent eastern areas also made it onto the list.
While the zip codes are usually the main event of such a report, it’s the median sale prices that might be most buzzworthy this year. This is the fifth consecutive year Atherton, a wealthy enclave of Silicon Valley, has topped the list. Overall, the west coast once again dominated, but Boston and Miami Beach joined the top 10 ranks where they were absent last year and the East End’s Sagaponack also held its own. While Bridgehampton slipped down the list, Sagaponack only dropped one spot and saw a major jump in its median sale price from $3.88 million in 2020 to $5 million.
Like last year, New York City zip codes are noticeably nowhere in sight. In fact, the Big Apple didn’t even make the top 20, with Tribeca’s 10013 making the city’s first appearance in the 2021 rankings at #22.
As real estate continues to boom in markets across the country, let’s see what 2022 brings.
