These festive discoveries have caught our expert's eye

We've found unique items to help add some extra cheer to the holiday season. Serve guests with a circa-1880 grape-motif bowl and ladle by the Gorham Manufacturing Company or decorate the home with a luminous oversized-lighted star made in the 1940s.

1 WINGED BEAUTIES
This intricately carved pair of circa-1850 angels (38″ high, 16″ deep) was likely once part of the decor of a small parish church in England. The freestanding figures are fashioned of oak and marked by a distressed painted surface. $8,900, Linda Horn Antiques, Madison Ave. at 93rd St., NYC, 212-772-1122, lindahorn.com.

2 Starring Role
It’s unlikely that this 6′-high, 6’3″-wide lighted star will fit atop your tree, but it would make quite a statement elsewhere in the house, yard, or even on the roof. Made of welded iron bars, it’s fitted with multiple Bakelite sockets and was likely made in the 1940s for a lodge or fraternal organization. $900, Historical Materialism, Hudson, 518-671-6151, historical@earthlink.net (by appointment).

3 Punch Line
Whether you’re serving eggnog or Hawaiian Punch during the holidays, your guests will drink up to this circa-1880 sterling-silver bowl (17½” across, 10″ high) with 24k-gold gilding (which protects against acidity). The grape-motif bowl and ladle were made by the Gorham Manufacturing Company of Providence, Rhode Island. $75,000, Nelson & Nelson, 2 E. 61st St. (in the Pierre Hotel), NYC, 212-980-5825, nnantiques@aol.com.

4 reindeer ride
This late-1800s carousel reindeer appears to be taking a break from sleigh duty. The hand-carved figure (43″ high) is made of stacked wood and painted in a traditional Pennsylvania Dutch (German) folk art style and color scheme. It also features a forged iron handle and a surprisingly comfortable seat. $4,500, Cosmo, 314 Wythe Ave., Brooklyn, 718-302-4662, cosmomodern@mac.com.

5 Snow Bound
Hope for snow this winter: This late-19th-century American bobsled (38″ long, 16½” wide) includes a hand-operated control for smooth sailing. The fir-wood surface retains some of its original blue and red paint, as well as the brand name, Olympic Bob Sled. $1,250, G4 Decor, 29 Hickory Kingdom Rd., Bedford, 917-373-2512, richard@g4decor.com.
