The co-founders of WeWork, Adam and Rebekah Neumann, have put their Irving Place triplex back on the market. The one-time power couple fell from grace in 2019, when trying to take WeWork public, as documented in Apple TV’s 2022 show, “WeCrashed.” The former billionaires listed the Manhattan residence in 2020 for $37.5 million. But, this time around, they are asking $32 million.
In 2017, Adam Neumann purchased a duplex and top-floor penthouse at 78 Irving Place for $27.5 million, according to the New York Post. Pietro Cicognani of Cicognani Kalla Architect combined the purchases into one cohesive home, outlining the project and the result in his book, Pietro Cicognani: Architecture and Design (Vendome Press).
Post-renovation, a skylit spiral staircase made of steel and darkened bronze anchors the three-story home. “It’s like a brownstone within an apartment building, with a floor for children, one for parents, and a communal level,” Cicognani shared in his book. NYC&G featured the project along with an excerpt from the book in 2020.
Santa Monica-based decorator Windsor Smith curated the sophisticated, mostly-white apartment that totals 7,880 square feet, with six bedrooms and six bathrooms.
Tal Alexander of The Alexander Team holds the listing. It’s not certain what the family of eight’s next move will be, but they also still own two-first floor units in the building that they previously acquired for $7.2 million, per the Post.
