Zadig & Voltaire Founder Seeks $49M for Extraordinary St. Barts Getaway

It’s no secret that St. Barths is the ultimate island vacation for many. Who doesn’t love Caribbean sunshine mixed with French glamour? It’s especially a playground for the wealthy, as shows like the Real Housewives of New York have portrayed over the years. Right now, Thierry Gillier, the founder of luxury brand Zadig & Voltaire, is selling his massive home there for $49 million USD (or approximately €45 million).

The oceanfront vacation retreat is known as Manoir Voltaire, sounding almost like a movie villain’s lair. It consists of not one, but two contemporary villas—each with their own private entrances. After all, if you lived here, wouldn’t your friends want to visit regularly and enjoy a bit of privacy? To make it easy to connect with each other as well, a secret staircase does bridge the two buildings.

The lower villa totals three ensuite bedrooms (the primary bedroom has an outdoor soaking tub), a kitchen, and indoor/outdoor living areas. The larger upper villa then boasts six bedrooms—four of them are primary bedrooms, one is a children’s bunk room, and the other is a staff bedroom. Together, the interior living spaces total 7,000 square feet and there are two swimming pools.

Architect Lorena Gabaldon is behind the residence, which includes exotic wood finishes from Bali, latticework and shutters with a West African design, cream marble throughout, travertine flooring, and custom furnishings. Since the the seller has a fine eye for luxury and aesthetics, you can trust this may be one of the most stylish and spectacular homes on the island. Also eco-friendly and energy efficient, the property boasts 124 solar panels and 72 batteries.

Rick Moeser of Douglas Elliman, Kevin Barrallon and Tracy Kelly of Saint Barth Real Estate, and Xavier Pignet of Barnes International share the pricey listing.
