The Hedges Inn in East Hampton recently reopened after an extensive, yet thoughtful renovation, and celebrated designer and author David Netto has imbued the space with a certain sort of magic. No two spaces are alike, and each room has a refined, residential feel. Netto has honored the historic spirit of the house—which dates to 1873 as a boarding house—while giving its 12 guest rooms, restaurant, bar, and public areas a thoughtful refinement. Antique and vintage pieces sourced from the UK, Maine, and Massachusetts give the inn a collected feel.
For the second season, the beloved Swifty’s at The Hedges returns, where the restaurant and bar have been reimagined to create a stronger connection between the indoor and outdoor spaces—ideal for morning coffee or evening cocktails and dinner. Swifty’s welcomes hotel guests and locals alike.

Sarah Wetenhall, Owner & CEO of The Hedges Inn, is no stranger to hotel life—she’s also the owner of the legendary Colony Palm Beach. Besides commissioning Netto for the inn’s revamped interiors, she also engaged project architect Kiko Sanchez and his firm FGS Design to oversee the architectural scope of the top-to-bottom renovation, while contracting firm Fifth & Dune, led by Kevin Warren, spearheaded the execution of the restoration. As the saying goes, “It takes a village.” In this case, a very stylish one!
