Steven Van Zandt has played many roles—including the real-life job of leading E Street Band as Bruce Springsteen’s guitarist. On-screen, he has also played mob consigliere Silvio Dante on The Sopranos. Now, he’s taking his hand at the real estate game and selling his duplex penthouse at 135 West Fourth Street in Manhattan.
Like Van Zandt, the apartment is a show stopper, set within a converted Romanesque Revival church near Washington Square Park. The penthouse pairs original exposed glass and timber beams with soaring 20-foot wood-clad ceilings.
Unsurprisingly, there is an expansive entertaining level where a glass accordion wall expands onto a private terrace with an outdoor kitchen. And downstairs, spacious bedrooms flank the media lounge. Some of the design choices are eclectic (think plum marble papered walls, a black kitchen and a peacock-themed bathroom), but would you expect anything less from a rock star?
“It’s a unicorn in the heart of Greenwich Village with amazing light and color from centuries old stain glass windows, an entertaining space that continues outdoors while being pin-drop quiet and private,” Mark D. Friedman, one of the listing agents, tells dailyDEEDS.
Friedman shares the listing with Richard Rosenthal, both of Brown Harris Stevens, asking $18.995 million.
