Barbara Gladstone’s Beachfront North Fork Home Just Sold and Set a New Record

The North Fork home of late gallerist Barbara Gladstone sold at the end of October for $11.2 million. This sale, which has become the priciest single-lot transaction in Cutchogue and the greater North Fork region, is the second of Gladstone’s properties to sell this year, following her passing in 2024. Her New York City townhouse sold this summer for $13.1 million, reportedly after an eventful bidding war.

The late art dealer was the force behind her eponymous Gladstone Gallery, with locations in New York, Brussels, and Seoul. Unsurprisingly, her beachy East End home is a reflection of her excellent taste. It’s a quintessential East Coast, shingle-style beauty filled with polished woodwork, cozy alcoves, and plenty of gathering spaces. The rooms also hold large pieces of art, striking light fixtures, and soothing coastal hues.

When it comes to the stats of this waterfront property, across the 7,500-square-foot main home, there are six bedrooms and eight bathrooms. The primary suite boasts walk-in closets, a dressing room, oversized fireplace, and ensuite bath. The other five bedrooms overlook the Great Peconic Bay. The grounds include perennial gardens, hedged lawns, a gunite pool, and private beach access. There’s also a lovely carriage house waiting for the new owner with a living space, theater, and gym.

“At 12120 New Suffolk Avenue, the combination of an extraordinary beach and a home rich with historic character, restored to the highest quality, was the key driver of value,” says Eric Elkin. “It represents the best of what makes the North Fork so special: timeless design and connection to place.”
