Baroness Véronique Bich Sells Refined Fifth Avenue Penthouse to Renowned Plastic Surgeon

A posh Manhattan duplex penthouse has sold for $13.5 million to internationally-renowned plastic surgeon Dr. Sachin Shridharani. Long owned by Véronique Bich, widow of Bruno Bich (heir to the Bic pen fortune), the Upper East Side residence came to the market in pristine condition, though Shridharani said he plans to perform a few touch-ups of his own.

The seller lived in the Fifth Avenue penthouse for over twenty years, according to Charles McDonald of the Lisa Simonsen team. When the couple first purchased the unit, they executed a massive, multi-year renovation. “They completely changed the floor plan, they reinforced the terraces so they could put really heavy planters on them—they took it down to the studs essentially,” McDonald told Mansion Global.

The luxe home hit the market for $17 million in 2024 and, after more than a year without a sale, dropped to $15 million. Boasting over 3,800 square feet of indoor space and 2,400 square feet of private terraces across two levels, it has a sprawling, elegant presence inside and out. The duplex is sunny, chic, and infused with Parisian details, including parquet de Versailles flooring, ornate boiserie, and folding glass doors that open to the wrap-around terrace. Shridharani plans to preserve the marble flooring and woodwork in the doors and floors, while adding his own personal style. “I could liken it to the fact that we want to perform a face-lift on it, maybe not a full deep plane, so to speak, but we’re going to make some upgrades,” he said.

It sits atop a circa-1955 co-op building with full-service perks. Residents, and now Dr. Shridharani, can enjoy a full-time doorman, elevator attendant, resident manager, and fitness center. Making for an easy commute, the acclaimed plastic surgeon’s practice is a mere five blocks from the property.

“It’s an oasis in the middle of what I think is the greatest metropolis in the world,” the elated buyer shared with Mansion Global. “To have that serenity, and the fact that you’re looking out on the park but you have your own mini Central Park as part of your own home, is just something I didn’t see in any property on Fifth Avenue.”
