Filmmaker James Cameron’s 102-Acre SoCal Spread Has a New Price Tag

This idyllic property might look like a movie set on a private island somewhere far away, but it is actually the 102-acre Southern California estate of star filmmaker James Cameron. The 69-year-old movie mogul, who is behind blockbusters like Titanic and Avatar, listed his Hollister Ranch property last July for $33 million. The listing has since taken a price cut and is now being offered at a reduced—but still steep—$28.5 million.

The lush setting is defined by its ocean views and diverse terrain and could really be described as a natural utopia. And, sustainability is top-of-mind here. The property is solar powered and hosts vegetable gardens, fruit trees, a wind generator, and private well. The Hollister Ranch Owners’ Association also has strict policies to maintain the area’s natural beauty, which results in more than 14,000 acres of undeveloped land for wildlife and over 8.5 acres of private shoreline.

Cameron’s property features an 8,000-square-foot primary residence with five bedrooms and seven bathrooms. Expansive views of the ocean, gardens, and landscape beyond fill the home. A 2,000-square-foot guest house, lagoon-style swimming pool, tennis court, equestrian facilities, and heli-pad also make star appearances throughout the property.

Emily Kellenberger of Village Properties/Forbes Global Properties and Jeff Kruthers of Hollister Ranch Realty hold the impressive spread.
