Gordon Thompson III, formerly creative director of Cole Haan and Nike, knows how to deftly fuse comfort with clean lines. And his own home is no exception. It’s no wonder his Shelter Island estate has already found a buyer after lingering on the market for just over a month.
Under contract for $8.995 million, 8c Pheasant Circle on Shelter Island offers a waterfront-facing estate, complete with a private beach, dock, pool and sunset-facing deck. There’s also the allure of its previous owner, who himself trained as an architect and is credited to bringing Nike Air technology into Cole Haan’s classic footwear lines.
The home’s design also seems to pay homage to his time at the luxury company, with a strong emphasis on clean lines, warm wood, oversized windows and open spaces. The estate is a departure from the more traditional, shingled Hamptons homes the area tends to see.
A full-gut renovation in 2022 emphasized the home’s connection to the water and surrounding landscape. Now, 3,801 square feet of interior space opens directly toward the gardens, lawns and waterfront. And with the property facing southwest, the evening hours boast expansive sunset views.
A main selling point is the water access, which means you can travel by boat to Sag Harbor rather than relying on a ferry. And one of the standout features lies in the roof deck, which gives homeowners panoramic views over the property.
Nick Brown with Sotheby’s International Realty, East Hampton Brokerage, holds the listing.
