Hollywood Icon Robert Redford Looks to Sell a Sublime Waterfront Bay Area Spread

If you want to live like Hollywood royalty but aren’t interested in calling Los Angeles home, this Bay Area abode could be exactly what you’ve been searching for. Currently owned by none other than Academy award-winning actor and director Robert Redford—who is best known for his starring roles in acclaimed films like The Way We Were, Out of Africa, and The Candidate—the waterfront oasis is a refreshing sight and just hit the market for $4.15 million.

Located in Tiburon, a desirable Marin County town where legends like Carlos Santana and Robin Williams have also resided in the past, the shingled house is the quintessential picture of laidback, coastal style. Redford and his wife, Sybille SZaggars Redford, put their spin on it with cosmetic, brightening updates after purchasing the property in May 2020 to accentuate its breezy bayfront essence. But, it’s good bones and cheerful personality were there from the start.

The sellers, reflecting on what attracted them to the address initially, shared, “We were immediately struck by the warmth of the home with its light-filled rooms, along with the views of Keil Cove, the San Francisco Bay and Angel Island—the home has lovely and distinct views from each room. We also were attracted to the privacy that the home offers, as it sits on a quiet, unpaved cul-de-sac, which does not experience a lot of traffic.”

Indeed, it’s 2,824 square feet of interiors are constantly connected to the outdoors, both with the abundant windows and the spacious decks across both levels. And, on those chilly Northern California days, the great room with a wood-burning fireplace and the relaxing primary suite are blissful places to take refuge.

The Redfords have an extensive history in Tiburon and this isn’t the first home they have held there. However, they are now directing their energy elsewhere. “Sadly, we are not able to spend as much time in Tiburon as we would like, as we are now spending more time in Santa Fe, New Mexico where Sibylle has been creating new art there and focusing on her fine art gallery, Sibylle Szaggars Redford Fine Art. And, the two of us are devoting a great deal of time to the non-profit organization, The Way of the Rain, also headquartered in Santa Fe, which produces educational and artistic performances to protect the environment and promote global conservation efforts.”
