After major successes like Selling Sunset and Buying Beverly Hills, it seems like California is dominating the reality TV scene these days. But, feat not. The first Netflix real estate reality TV show based in New York City, Owning Manhattan, just launched. The series follows Ryan Serhant and his team at his eponymous brokerage as they market luxury listings throughout the city and look to make major deals.
Nile Lundgren, one of the SERHANT. agents starring in the show, recently listed this Boho-chic townhome in Chelsea for $5.995 million. The four-story residence on West 22nd Street holds two self-contained apartments and features eclectic, eye-catching design choices.
Built in 1874, historic charm is ever-present throughout both units. Exposed brick is a key feature of the living spaces, giving the apartments a warm and classic feel. Original fireplace mantels, lovely archways, crown moldings, and refined hardwood floors also contribute to the magical atmosphere.
Unit #1 is a two-bedroom duplex with a garden level entrance. It has large windows and soaring high ceilings in the main living room, creating a relaxing, airy feel. Colorful walls and wallpaper set this residence apart from the typical clean, and more sterile, new apartments being built today. A standout feature is the gorgeous loft, which is currently used as a bedroom. Outside, there’s a generous backyard with a covered dining area, perfect for hosting guests and enjoying Manhattan’s seasons right at home.
Unit #2 is occupied until summer 2025, and therefore not pictured here. It has four bedrooms, so a bit more space for those with kids or frequent visitors.
This two-unit configuration presents an enticing opportunity to purchase the property as a pure investment move and become a landlord, or to live in one unit and rent out the other. After all, who doesn’t dream of some reliable passive income when living in NYC?
