Judith and Gus Leiber’s Hamptons Home of 70 Years Hits the Market for $7M

The longtime East Hampton home of late couple, and famous creatives, Judith Leiber and Gerson Leiber is back on the market. Judith, whose namesake handbags continue to dazzle on red carpets and in museums, and Gerson (otherwise known as Gus), an abstract painter, owned this residence for 70 years. The bucolic, green property last listed in 2019 asking $3.9 million, following the couple’s passing on the same day in 2018, and officially sold in 2020, per public records. Now, it’s up for sale again priced at $6.995 million.

Comprised of more than two acres in Springs, the inspiring estate includes a 4,500-square-foot main house and a 1,300-square-foot artist’s barn. It’s also appropriately a stone’s throw away from the Leiber Collection, an East End museum full of Judith Leiber handbags with grounds designed by Gerson.

Stepping into the main home, the renovated residence consists of four bedrooms and four-and-a-half bathrooms so guests can stay with ease. Plenty of windows drench the interiors with light—and there’s even a conservatory to relish in. The artist’s barn was a haven for the legendary Leibers where they could dive into creativity or even host parties. The grounds, which are also able to quench the thirst for both creative solace or exuberant entertaining, include walking paths, a swimming pool, a hot tub, vegetable gardens, and cutting gardens.
