Mario Lopez’s Expansive Former Spanish-Style Spread in Glendale, CA Looks for $6M

Here’s some celebrity scoop: Mario Lopez, the former “Extra” television show host and a current host of “Access Hollywood,” lived in this Spanish-style home until just a couple of years ago. Now, it’s on the market again for $5.995 million.

Located in Glendale, the historic residence was originally built in 1929 by Peter Damm—the inventor of the armored car. He lived here himself as the first resident. Much later in 2010, actor/television host Mario Lopez scooped the property for $1,940,000 and stayed here quite a while, eventually selling it in April of 2023 for $4,550,000. The profit is perhaps reflective of the work the celebrity did to the cool property.

Hollywood glamour meets Spanish-style architecture at the 7,711-square-foot property with hand-painted tiles, crown moldings, Venetian plaster walls, black-and-white marble floors, and arched doorways and windows in abundance. There are eight bedrooms and 11 bathrooms. The primary suite includes a large bathroom with a spiral staircase that leads down to a private gym and dance studio. There is also a wine cellar and a card/game room, perfect for glitzy parties or casual gatherings with VIP friends.

The property includes a one-bedroom guest house with a kitchen and living room and a pool house. Lopez did extensive work to the resort-like grounds which include: A pool and spa with light and water features, a cabana, chef’s kitchen, gas heaters, built-in beer taps, multi-tiered gardens, and T.V. screens. All of this overlooks the downtown Los Angeles, the San Gabriel Mountains, Burbank, and Glendale.

Craig Strong and Nancy Gerber of Compass holds the special listing, which was also the first property in Glendale to use solar energy, according to a plaque out front.
