Designers Reed and Delphine Krakoff Find a Buyer for Their Oceanfront Amagansett Modern Priced at $49.5M

In early September, fashion designer Reed Krakoff and Parisian-born interior designer Delphine Krakoff listed their modern Amagansett compound set above beach dunes for a staggering $49.5 million. Perhaps they wanted one last summer with the sumptuous spread, which wows with multiple structures and 200 feet of ocean frontage. At such a price, one might think it would have taken many months or even years to sell, but the 2.8-acre estate has already found a buyer and is now in contract.

After selling Lasata in 2018, the famed childhood summer home of Jackie Kennedy, the Krakoffs commissioned Thomas Phifer and Partners to create this posh beach retreat. Clearly, they were in the mood for a change of scenery and style. It was completed in 2023 after a five-year design/build process and displays a polar opposite look from their former Hamptons home, reflecting tranquil modernism rather than traditional grandeur.

The residence centers around a pale-concrete platform with three glass-cube structures positioned for panoramic ocean views. One is reserved just for the primary suite, while another holds the impressive kitchen and living areas. You can walk out on the vast deck with a pool to go from pavilion to pavilion, or use the passageway or paths to maneuver around the estate and to the beach. When it comes to the interiors, they’re in harmony with the streamlined modern architecture as expected. Calming and neutral, the spaces highlight connection to nature and easy gathering. There is a total of 7,200 square feet inside to spread out across, including seven bedrooms for seasonal guests.

While the sum of the accepted offer is unknown, this is poised to be one of the biggest sales of 2025 if it closes soon, ending the 2025 Hamptons’ market with a bang. And, only time will tell if the notable sellers, who authored Houses That We’ve Dreamt Of together, have their eye on a new East End property.

Tyler Mattson of Hedgerow Exclusive Properties holds the listing, which Behind the Hedges first reported is in contract.
