Interior designer Amy Lau passed away Friday, January 17. She founded her firm, Amy Lau Design, in 2001.

Just recently, in the November/December 2024 issue, the editors of NYC&G (New York Cottages & Gardens) wrote that Lau was “known as a trailblazing designer with an exquisite eye for quality and authenticity, as well as a penchant for color and incorporating unexpected materials.”

Lau has served as a judge for the Connecticut Innovation in Design Awards (IDAs) and the New York IDAs. She was also a Design Chair of the fourth annual Holiday House Hamptons, presented by HC&G in 2019. Over the years, her work has been featured in NYC&G and HC&G. In 2012, the New York School of Interior Design awarded Lau with an honorary doctorate. The celebrated designer and her firm’s additional accolades include: Architectural Digest/AD 100 Award, ELLE Decor A-List, House Beautiful Next-Wave Award, and New York Magazine‘s Top 100 List.
