Design luminaries have been transforming their 5’ by 8’ space housed within three white walls at the Southport Congregational Church for over two decades. And if these walls could talk, they would tell the tales of brilliant alumni like Jeffrey Bilhuber, Charlotte Moss, Eric Cohler, Victoria Hagan and Alexa Hampton to name just a few.

Lewis Design Group’s Inspiration Sketch for Rooms with A View 2019
“To heighten the effect of the intimate entry space and to set the mood for the 25th anniversary, we flanked the vignette entrance with drapes in an archival Cowtan & Tout fabric that was recently re-introduced from decades past in new color ways. Continuing the vintage elegance are two pillars, which not only serve to ground the space but pay tribute to Albert Hadley, who often used this design element in his work. Another nod to Hadley appears in a custom watercolor that we created in collaboration with local artist, Lucy Claire Spooner, that depicts Hadley’s weekend home in Southport, Connecticut. Alexis Parent’s Inspiration Sketch for Rooms with A View 2019
“Being the 25th Anniversary of RWAV, I was inspired by the word VINTAGE! I am creating a “Mad Lounge,” in which I envision a dapper gentleman coming home from work, to kick off his shoes, sit in his Eames Lounge Chair, and enjoy his Cohiba and Havana Club Rum. I come from a long line of mid-century art enthusiasts and have included some important Lithographs from both Alexander Calder & Jackson Beardy. I just love this time period with style in general, so what a perfect opportunity! I am 1/2 Cuban and was also influenced by my recent trip to magical Havana, hence the rum and vintage glassware.” Alexis Parent of Alexis Parent Interiors

Handin Browne’s Inspiration Sketch for Rooms with A View 2019
“Sketches of abstract faces have been coming up a lot in our current projects which we loved! We were inspired by Matisse line drawings and DaLo ceramic sculptures Once we came across our femme faces wallcovering from Drop it Modern, we knew we had found our concept!” Samantha Goldman of Handin Browne.
