Although the theme was yoga, the only visible contorting at a recent reception was Alec Baldwin arranging his lap to accommodate his expectant wife Hilaria for photographers at a recent gathering to promote “Yoga: The Art of Transformation.”
Fitness instructor Pari Bradlee, on the committee for the opening gala, joined her husband Quinn and her in-laws Ben and Sally Bradlee welcoming more than 100 guests to their summer home at Grey Gardens to celebrate the exhibit due to open October 19th at the Smithsonian’s Arthur M. Sackler Gallery in Washington, DC.
Declaring yoga changed her life after a dance injury, cochair Hilaria Baldwin declared herself its “passionate advocate,” and her husband also confessed his wish that he’d found yoga sooner.
Curator Debra Diamond described monumental stone figures from a 10th-century Chola yogini temple, which will be among devotional icons, vibrant manuscripts and early-modern photographs and will be displayed in the exhibit.

Ann Nitze, Ben Bradlee, and Dame Jillian Sackler
Also attending the “Enlightened Evening Gala” were Dan Ackroyd, Marci Klein, Christopher Mason, Lynn Sherr, Joan Tobin, and Dame Jillian Sackler, the philanthropist widow of the gallery’s namesake Arthur M. Sackler.
A bonus extra was the opportunity for guests to congratulate host Ben Bradlee whom the day before had received a call from the White House announcing he’s been named a recipient of the American Medal of Freedom.
