FINNISH FUSION

At 3daysofdesign in Copenhagen, Finnish brands Artek and Marimekko presented a new furniture collaboration, which launched worldwide in September. To mark its 90th anniversary, Artek is celebrating with creative partners like Marimekko. The limited-edition pieces—Alvar Aalto’s Stool 60, Bench 153B and Table 90D—combine the art of printmaking with the technology of wood bending. Marimekko’s iconic designs are interpreted on birchwood rather than canvas. “Artek and Marimekko coming together may seem like an obvious match. The outcome, however, is anything but,” says Marianne Goebl, managing director at Artek. “We have woven together our respective identities, creative visions and core expertise to create something truly unexpected.”
ENDLESS SUMMER

Summer might be over, but the sun-soaked colors, vintage florals, ticking stripes and coastal charm of Pottery Barn’s first-ever collaboration with interior designer and tastemaker Mark D. Sikes will keep summer going strong. The collection brings the relaxed sophistication of Sikes’ Ojai, California home—Orange Hill Farm—to your home. Decorative tabletop and entertaining pieces, linens, bedding and bath textiles, indoor and outdoor pillows, wallpaper and accessories are offered in three distinct color stories of Citrus, Lilac and Sikes’ hallmark Blue and White. “This is a highly personal collection for me and I’m so proud to collaborate with Pottery Barn to design a collection that showcases my love of timeless, classic, and all-American design,” says Sikes. “It looks great today and will still look great many years from now.”
SCANDI CHIC

Best known for her role as Carrie Bradshaw, the fashionista and writer portrayed in Sex in the City, Sarah Jessica Parker is flaunting her personal style with her latest wallpaper and fabric introductions. Developed in collaboration with Eric Hughes, co-creative director for Wallshoppe, the collection captures the beauty and charm of Scandinavian design. It was inspired by the Swedish word mysa, evoking coziness, comfort and contentment. Ranging from bold Nordic florals to delicate prints in vibrant colors, the assemblage includes 97 wallpapers and 58 fabrics. The Vendela pattern was recently cast in a starring role in a powder room on an episode of Sex and the City’s sequel, And Just Like That. $78–$298.
HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE

The hardest part about compiling the second Colonial Williamsburg and Schumacher collection, according to Dara Caponigro, creative director of Schumacher, was narrowing down the choices. Exploring Colonial Williamsburg’s vast collection of costume and home textiles, the design team fashioned fresh patterns and colorways for fabrics and wallpapers. Rooted in history but crafted for today’s interiors, the floral motifs, stripes and geometric patterns pay tribute to a beloved American treasure.
