World-Renowned Photographer Annie Leibovitz Reels in $8M for Her Light-Filled West Village Loft

Picture this: A West Village loft overlooking the Hudson River, defined by its huge windows and a spacious floor plan. It doesn’t get much better when it comes to Manhattan views and natural light, two things photographers especially appreciate. That may be why iconic portrait photographer Annie Leibovitz initially picked it up in 2022. She acquired it for $6.5 million, listed it early this year for $8.5 million, and just sold it for a tidy $8 million.

The lucky new owner is gaining some serious bragging rights. Leibovitz’s photographs have frequented the pages of Vogue and she has photographed major cultural icons of all genres from Queen Elizabeth II and Michelle Obama to John Lennon to Zendaya. And, the photographer used this West Village address (between West 12th and Jane Street) as a studio space.

The 3,153 square-foot, full-floor condo totals two bedrooms and two-and-a-half bathrooms. Design details include cement pillars, 60 feet of steel windows, wood-burning fireplaces, and heated bluestone floors. The unit sits in a boutique, nine-story building with a full-time doorman and keyed elevator.

Just months after listing this NYC pad, Leibovitz also listed her 65-acre Northern California farm for $8.995 million. That sprawling property is still available for interested buyers. Leibovitz has listed a number of her residences in recent years and is clearly in editing mode with her real estate portfolio, much to the market’s delight.

Deborah Kern of the Corcoran Group held the stylish listing, while Steve Gold of The Corcoran Group represented the buyer.
