Vanity Fair Photographer Seeks $8.5M for Circa-1882 Victorian in Sag Harbor

Vogue, Harpar’s Bazaar, and Vanity Fair magazine are some of the biggest fashion publications across the globe. Their publishers and creatives, as can be seen with Anna Wintour, can almost become celebrities themselves. But, many photographers, designers, and artists who bring every page to life are also just behind-the-scenes.

Acclaimed portrait photographer Jonas Fredwall Karlsson is one such person. His work has appeared in Vogue, GQ, National Geographic, and campaigns for brands like Rolex and Apple, but most impactfully, he’s been a go-to photographer for Vanity Fair for over 20 years. And, while the Swedish lensman has been based in New York City, he just listed the 144-year-old Sag Harbor Village home that he spent nearly a decade restoring with his sharp eye. Seemingly, his retreat on the East End. Karlsson is seeking $8.5 million for the three-bedroom, four-and-a-half-bath residence as he aims to spend more time in Stockholm.

The renovation of his circa-1882 Gothic Victorian was carried out with the same admiration for composition, light, and detail that defines his camerawork. Throughout the home, preserved 19th-century architecture—including a turret, steep gables, and bay windows—pairs seamlessly with modern amenities like a heated gunite pool, detached studio, and pool house. Airy and elegant, the interiors keep it simple with color and instead lean on neutrals to create a sense of calm.

“This extraordinary home has been an iconic part of Sag Harbor’s history for more than 140 years, and Jonas has honored its legacy with extraordinary vision and care,” listing agent Erica Grossman shares. “Every detail of the restoration was approached with remarkable craftsmanship, seamlessly blending modern luxury with the home’s timeless architectural character and historic charm.”

Grossman of Douglas Elliman and Lori MacGarva of William Raveis share the listing.
