Perhaps not since Scheherazade spun her tales has there been such a burst of exotic opulence as found in this year’s Kips Bay Decorator Show House. Two dozen top designers and architects have rubbed their magic lamps creating “Dream Machine,” “Enchanted Roots,” “Smoke & Mirrors,” and other jewel box spaces done up in tapestries, patterns, and textures which would be worthy settings for the Arabian Nights.
Raising funds to support the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club which provides educational and developmental programs to more than 10,000 children, rooms in the neo-Georgian house on 65th Street will be on display through May 28. Here are some accents to spot in the sumptuous spaces.
