After a five-year restoration, the Dahlias is poised and polished, accented by a sinuous locust tree and a pair of mulberries that flank the front path.
In the sitting room, decorator Sarah O’Neil re-covered an antique bergère and two small 1950s armchairs to make them feel at home with a Liaigre sofa. The painted wood chandelier is from Ruby Beets. Curtains are Napoli Vintage in Oyster, a Belgian linen from Libeco.
A family ancestor’s portrait hangs above the fireplace; the Alexander Calder is from the Quogue Gallery.
The restored 19th-century table in the dining room was treated to new leather-upholstered chairs and a ceiling fixture from Black Swan Antiques. Drapery fabric is David Hicks from Lee Jofa.
The countertops are Calacatta Gold marble; the range and stove are BlueStar.
In a nod to modern living, a wall was taken down between the kitchen and the TV/family room, which features a vintage Stickley table and chairs and a custom banquette by O’Neil, with fabric from Dessin Fournir.
The laundry hall leads to a back staircase.
The Shaws porcelain sink in the butler’s pantry is from Blackman Plumbing Supply; the lamp is from Anthropologie.
Refinished antique sleigh beds nestle neatly in a top-floor guest room.
One of the en suite second-floor bathrooms features a refurbished tub and a China Seas wall covering.
In daughter Natalie’s room, O’Neil upholstered a custom bed in a Sister Parish printed linen.
A top-floor hall leads to a sun-filled powder room.
Most summer meals are taken in the sun room.
