Celebrity ownership may draw the initial attention, but the architecture is what leaves a lasting impression at 10 Dragonwood Lane in Weston, Connecticut. Known as the Origami House, the 8,500-square-foot residence once home to heavy metal musician and filmmaker Rob Zombie just hit the market for $6.5 million. According to Mansion Global, Zombie owned the home between 2022 and 2024, so it hasn’t been out of his hands too long.
Originally commissioned for Tony Award-winning director Des McAnuff and acclaimed sculptor Bryna McCann, the 2013-built home was conceived by the renowned Manhattan architecture firm Leroy Street Studio. Inspired by the art of folded geometry, it’s composed of sculptural forms, dramatic rooflines, and expansive walls of glass that create a seamless relationship between the interiors and the surrounding landscape. Soaring ceilings, warm wood accents, and panoramic woodland views allow nature to become part of the design.
That philosophy reaches its peak in the striking glass great room, inspired by I.M. Pei’s iconic Louvre Pyramid. Wrapped in glass and anchored by a suspended fireplace, this light-filled heart of the home opens onto spacious terraces overlooking the 15.57-acre grounds. Close to the home, there’s a koi pond with cascading waterfalls, a swimming channel, and koi imported from Japan winds visible through glass corridors, creating an immersive connection between architecture and nature. Further afoot, you’ll find a lighted tennis court, artist’s studio, and meditation garden. No pool, but there’s plenty of room to put one in.
