A Wealth of Inspiration in the Kips Bay Decorator Show House New York 2026

Step inside a collection of imaginative rooms shaped by some of today’s leading design talents.

The annual Kips Bay Decorator Show House New York has opened in a handsome red brick Georgian style town house on Washington Place, a side street connecting Washington Square and Sixth Avenue. Lofty rooms of the six-story distinguished residence, once home to musician John Philips Sousa, have been done up by twenty-two celebrated designers and architects.

Lighting is a stand out feature this year in the story book spaces. Each room is accented with imaginative floor or table lamps, ceiling fixtures or sconces in unusual shapes and designs. Always a popular motif, checkerboard patterns have been adapted to plush floor carpets, a gaming table, and carefully matched sea grass panels on a ceiling. Two full kitchens plus an outdoor kitchen suite provide a wealth of inspiration, and an upholstered top story terrace defies any threat of bad weather.

Benefitting the educational and enriching programs of the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club, the house will be on view seven days a week through October 13.
