Neko Collection Coffee Table
Inspired by the quiet intelligence of a cat (neko) observed in a Japanese potter’s workshop, a Neko collection by Benoit Maires exhibits his interest in economy of means, standard materials, and ecological awareness. On the coffee table, a thick plastic sheet over the oval brushed aluminum top imparts a mirror-like quality. A hand-fired ceramic bowl, inserted flush with the top, is luminous against the metal, and ribbed aluminum sabots and leather pads finish the piece. The five-piece debut collection is on exhibit at NYC’s Valerie Goodman Gallery.
