Creedence Clearwater Revival’s Stu Cook Lists Waterfront Florida Modern for Nearly $10M

Creedence Clearwater Revival’s Stu Cook is selling his flashy Florida modern, and it has quite the story.

The “Have You Ever Seen the Rain” guitarist and his wife closed on the Sarasota home in 2013 for $2.95 million, according to Mansion Global, with no plans to majorly renovate it. However, Cook told the publication that hours after picking up the closing paperwork and a case of champagne from their buying agent on New Year’s Day in 2014, they got a call that it had burst into flames. A kitchen fire burned down most of the circa-2002 home and it needed to be completely rebuilt.

In the wake of the chaos, the couple tapped the home’s original architect to work on the rebuild. Modernist architect Carl Abbott brought out his original plans, even those that didn’t make it into the final design: Sliding doors opening the primary bedroom to the great room below, a roof deck (accessible via elevator), and a larger footprint on the second floor. Two years and three months later, the couple moved into their new waterfront oasis.

Today, the sleek four-bedroom, five-bathroom home clocks in at 4,559 square feet. The architecture and interiors are all in harmony with the waterfront location, making the views a focal point of the experience. Who wouldn’t want to watch the sunset over the Gulf Coast from their own backyard?

Joel Schemmel of Premier Sotheby’s International Realty holds the listing priced at $9,975,000.
