Manolo Blahnik Opens in Miami Design District

The luxury footwear retailer opens a new flagship, Miami-style.

Manolo Blahnik opened its first Florida storefront in the Miami Design District, next to Baccarat and Berluti. The flagship made waves Miami-style at a private opening celebration on March 12.

While the brand’s colorful shoes are the shop’s true eye-candy, Nick Leith-Smith Architecture + Design was a shoo-in for designing the space, as the British firm has been working with the footwear brand since 2003. The final design is a nod to one of Manolo Blahnik’s favorite Art Deco-era designers Josef Hoffmann, who was known for his monochromatic and geometric designs. The Miami flagship is wrapped in a black-and-white geometric design on the exterior, which is mimicked inside on the carpets and wallcoverings.

A percussion parade led guests from the cocktail hour to a celebratory dinner at the nearby ZZs Club, where attendees sipped on “Manolo’s Miami Margarita” and “Kristina’s Caipirinha.”
