Norman Conquest | The house, built in 1971, is vintage Jaffe, with an exaggerated, sloping roofline and enormous glass dormers, tied to local vernacular by the use of stone walls and cedar shingles.
Master Plan | The master suite occupies the house’s top level, which was updated to include a built-in desk/dresser combo and a sliding shoji-style mahogany door to close off the sleeping area. A leather Egg chair by Arne Jacobsen sits at the ready for afternoon reading.
Woodsy Appeal | A white maple slab dining table, surrounded by a suite of Vico Magistretti Carimate chairs, looks onto the kitchen. New slate floor tiles were carefully chosen to match the originals.
Woodsy Appeal | In the sunken living area, Hans Wegner Wishbone chairs are arranged around a 1960s Danish Modern cocktail table.

Turn Up The Volume | The house’s central core soars to 42 feet. Adjacent to the dining area, Elger Esser’s photograph Arles II hangs above an oak and rattan sideboard by Hans Wegner.
What Lies Beneath | Across the way, an Arne Jacobsen Swan chair sits below a landing with a Shigaraki stoneware jar and a pair of sculpted metal cranes.
What Lies Beneath | A guest room is simply furnished with tatami mats for sleeping.
What Lies Beneath | Evening Glow, an oil painting by Alexis Podchernikoff, hangs above a Chesterfield sofa on the house’s lowest level; the table is by Roger Capron.
