The 81-acre estate of late boxer and activist Muhammad Ali just sold for $2.5 million. Originally listed for $2.9 million in June, the Michigan compound was owned by the legendary fighter for more than four decades until his death in 2016. The sprawling property sits in a small town called Berrien Springs, offering a serene escape for Ali from the chaos of fame.On the property, you’ll find a 3,960-square-foot main house, a carriage house, climate-controlled garage, two barns, and a freestanding gym complete with boxing ring, the latter undoubtedly a touch from Ali himself. The four-bedroom main house offers only a glimpse of the estate’s accommodation potential. Several guesthouses sprinkle the countryside and the abundance of acreage offers plenty of space for the new owner, the Turken Foundation, to build. The organization reportedly offered an additional $37 for the property, a reference to Ali’s 37 career knockouts, but the deal closed without that sentimental value.Amplifying the spread’s tranquil, spa-like atmosphere are several stunning exterior spaces, namely a pool, bath house, outdoor kitchen, steam room, massage room, and hot tub spa.Tim Mitchell of Cressy & Everett Real Estate had the listing, which Crain’s Chicago Business first reported sold just before Christmas.
