From the sidewalk, this residence looks firmly rooted in another century. Its brick and brownstone facade dates to 1885, when William J. Merritt built the Neo-Grec townhouse in the West End–Collegiate Historic District.
The interiors, however, are much more contemporary, as the five-level home underwent a gut renovation in 2022. Its biggest surprise? A 41-foot heated indoor pool and spa hidden beneath the nearly 6,460-square-foot residence.

Listing agent Carl Gambino says the combination is particularly uncommon for the neighborhood. “It is rare to find an Upper West Side townhouse with this combination of historic architecture, modern infrastructure and true resort-level amenities,” he says. “To my knowledge there are only five townhouses on the Upper West Side that are publicly known to have indoor pools.”
