After listing his loud yet refined duplex penthouse last year—a residence he created by acquiring four units over 21 years and merging them together—Bravo’s Andy Cohen has found a pair of buyers for it. And, appropriately, they’re in showbiz, too. The New York Post reports that actor and Emmy-winning playwright Danny Strong, whose had roles in hit shows like “Mad Men” and “Gilmore Girls,” and actor/producer Caitlin Mehner are scooping up the groovy co-op. It’s currently in contract for an unknown price, with the listing last seen asking $12 million.
The four-bedroom, 3,500-square-foot home in the sky, which was gut-renovated and crafted with the help of interior designer Eric Hughes and architect Gordon Kahn, is a vision of color, pattern, and, yes, even disco balls. Its design screams creativity, which is no doubt why it attracted new owners with a flair for dramatics. Strong’s new play “Chess” will open on Broadway this fall, so this will be the perfect place for the power couple to entertain the cast or VIP patrons soon.
Some stand-out design elements in the vibrant co-op include a wood-clad wet bar with green-gray gradient glass, Ralph Lauren Home flannel wallpaper wrapping the primary suite, and a cherry-red dressing room where Cohen could get in the right mindset for hosting CNN’s New Year’s Eve special with Anderson Cooper or Watch What Happens Live! each night. The blue kitchen also packs a playful punch with blurry, floral wallpaper. Throughout, the home has an imaginative, kid-friendly aura, which is no surprise as Cohen has been raising his two children here.
Strong told the NY Post, “Andy’s apartment is my dream home. We are so excited to be moving there.” Ryan Serhant of his eponymous SERHANT. agency is representing the seller in the deal, which is expected to close later this month.
