For breakfast, Montauk boasts a variety of laid-back cafés—including local favorite Joni’s, known for its smoothies, wraps, and beach-town energy. For lunch, Naturally Good has been a go-to since 1985. Everything is fresh and flavorful, but the fish tacos are the undeniable standout.

Mostrador brings South American warmth to the East End. Helmed by chef Fernando Trocca (who opened the original location in José Ignacio, Uruguay), the café counter features vibrant, seasonal dishes and standout house-made pastries that sell out fast.

Stop by the Montauk outpost of the now-viral Round Swamp Farm—just two blocks from the beach—known for its Bethenny Frankel-approved chicken salad, plus other ready-to-go meals, farm fresh produce, and baked goods.

Walk in or pull your boat up to Duryea’s, known for its $97 Lobster Cobb Salad and rosé list. Navy Beach is another waterfront restaurant on Fort Pond Bay. Pro tip: Make your reservation during sunset.

Don’t leave town without a stop at LUNCH, a time-honored roadside staple best known for its iconic lobster roll.

Things to Do

At the easternmost tip of Long Island, the Montauk Point Lighthouse stands as a historic beacon dating back to 1796. Visitors can climb the 137 steps to the top for sweeping views, then explore the eight-room museum detailing Montauk’s maritime past.

For nature-lovers, Shadmoor State Park offers coastal trails with panoramic clifftop views above Ditch Plains Beach—a favorite for surfers.

For those seeking a lively social scene, the Surf Lodge hosts a summer music series, drawing crowds for its lakefront setting and buzzy performances. Prefer something a little more low-key? The Montauket, a longtime local favorite, serves cold drinks, live music, and golden hour views without the velvet rope.

Where to Stay

For those looking to extend their stay, there are a range of options. Gurney’s Montauk Resort & Seawater Spa overlooks the Atlantic and boasts restaurants and a beach club. This summer, Swiss skincare brand La Prairie is popping up at the spa, offering two signature facials through August 31.

Montauk Yacht Club unveiled its multi-million dollar renovation last summer. In addition to a 200-slip dock, the 35-acre property includes two swimming pools, a private beach, tennis courts, and padel courts.

For a more low-key (but design-forward) stay, check into Daunt’s Albatross. Just 100 feet from the beach, this former motel was refreshed in 2022 by Home Studios, preserving its three-generation legacy while adding modern charm.
