This year’s Met Gala theme was “The Garden of Time,” resulting in a myriad of fashion statements on the “green” carpet. The event reportedly raised upward of $26 million for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute. Check out these gardens featured on the pages of Cottages & Gardens.
Zendaya
Zendaya, one of the co-chairs of this year’s event, stole the show—just like Hollander Design Landscape Architects did at the Hamptons Innovation in Design Awards last year. This project won the Garden Category and judge Joan Michaels described it as “not unlike a fairy tale.”

Tyla
Singer Tyla is known for her hit song “Water,” but her Balmain dress was made out of sand. We’re pairing her with this waterfront property designed by Janice Parker in Fairfield County.

Kylie Jenner
Kylie Jenner’s custom gown by Oscar de la Renta was inspired by a garden statue, according to Vogue. While the gown is brand-new, its silhouette is elegant and sophisticated—as is this classic Tudor-style home with a fresh landscape design. Much like the brand worked its magic on Jenner’s rosewater-colored dress, James Doyle Design Associates dreamt up a new but timeless-looking backyard.

Sarah Jessica Parker
West Village townhouses are often envied, and this one is quite eye-catching—much like Sarah Jessica Parker’s dress designed by Richard Quinn. Instead of knocking the Manhattan residence down, the owners decided to gut renovate the circa-1899 building, restoring it to its former glory. Quinn, too, had preservation in mind when designing the actress’ outfit. “With this dress, we wanted to play on the idea of preservation; the dress appears so fragile as to be almost ephemeral, but with care and consideration it has been built to last,” the designer told Vogue.

Sydney Sweeney
Talk about a transformation! While Sydney Sweeney (known for her long blonde locks) showed up to fashion’s biggest night with a brunette bob, her “Miu Miu tulle gown and leather gloves feel very much in the star’s classic, Old Hollywood wheelhouse” according to Vogue. Her enchanting look is comparable to this Italian garden on Lake Como designed by James Doyle.
