Richard T. Anuszkiewicz does all. The Raith Design founder also serves as Creative Director for Monogram Appliances and a Product Designer for Kallista, and he also happens to be this year’s Connecticut IDA Innovator. So when it comes to market days, like the recent High Point Market in North Carolina, he must wear many hats and cover a lot of ground. How? Anuszkiewicz joined Cottages & Gardens® for a rapid-fire Q&A to dish on his go-to destinations, trade show strategy and even his coffee order.
What is your coffee order on market days?
Richard T. Anuszkiewicz: A double espresso. Strong, efficient, and beautifully simple.
When you’re covering a market, do you make a plan or follow your gut?
Always a plan, but I trust my eye. The best discoveries are often the unexpected ones.

What was the top trend that stuck out to you at High Point?
The return of rich, saturated color. Think decadent chocolate browns, warm woods, deep marigolds and mustards and moody reds and purples. There’s a beautiful warmth and sophistication to it all.
When it comes to kitchen and bath, what material is having a moment?
Stainless steel is making a major comeback in the kitchen. I love its sleek, architectural quality and how beautifully it contrasts with warmer, more natural materials.
Everyone traveling to North Carolina for High Point should visit…
A bit of a drive but in proximity is the historic Biltmore Estate in Asheville. An extraordinary lesson in design, craftsmanship and timeless American luxury.
Join us in celebrating Anuszkiewicz at this year’s IDA Awards gala.
