On Park Avenue, at one of the city’s most well-known co-ops, interior designer Danielle Richter’s statement-making apartment has hit the market. Simultaneously glamorous, eclectic, sultry, and feminine, the 3,250-square-foot pad is the result of Richter’s creative vision, in collaboration with architect Michael Neumann, and is seeking $12.5 million.
According the a feature in Architectural Digest, Richter was inspired by Art Deco drama as well as the mystique of the moon and stars when she gut renovated her three-bedroom residence. You can see how the night sky plays into the design with curving lines and shimmering materials seen throughout, plus celestial-esque light fixtures that foster a feeling of wonder and fascination. Femininity is also at the forefront here in more ways that one. Most concretely, Richter hung three paintings by women in the foyer and placed a sandstone bust of a woman in this focial space.
However, the kitchen may be the apartment’s most daring yet blushing space to explore. It unfolds with pink quartzite counters, hammered silver cabinetry, and a Murano glass chandelier. If this doesn’t make you think what a fantasy home on Venus could look like, what else could? On the kitchen design, Richter told AD, “I wanted something to compete with the beautiful restaurants in the city.”
Tucked away from these entertaining areas looking out to Central Park, the primary suite is more muted in its tones but also brims with bespoke treasures. It holds an Art Nouveau fireplace sourced from Paris, a custom dressing room with a mother-of-pearl island, and a bathroom with a custom Art Deco bas relief depicting a goddess above the tub.
Located in a beloved circa-1910 building, the home is listed with Josh Doyle and Ari Afshar of Compass.
