Wife of Late ZZ Top Rockstar Sells Modern Texas Masterpiece to Megafan of the Band

How much would you pay for a piece of your favorite band’s legacy? For one rock lover, that sum seems to be $6.4 million. The widow of ZZ Top’s longtime bassist Dusty Hill “Just Got Paid” a pretty penny for her impressive property. Charleen McCrory purchased the College Station, Texas home shortly after Hill’s passing to showcase the collection of memorabilia she and her husband had amassed together, but recently she decided to downsize. A ZZ Top mega fan now owns the modern masterpiece and its sprawling 372 acres.

The late bass player had a myriad of mementos from his 50-year-long career with ZZ Top, before passing in 2021. McCrory recently auctioned off some of his music treasures, including keepsakes connected to Elvis Presley, Dolly Parton, and Nirvana. While most items were spoken for, “a few items were left in the house, as it was sold completely furnished. One thing was a handmade metal ‘tree’ statue out front with Dusty and his wife’s initials on it,” listing agent Beth Ferester told Mansion Global.

The angular residence itself spreads across 5,800 square feet, with just three bedrooms and three-and-a-half bathrooms. The sale included two lots, a swimming pool, and plenty of peaceful Texas views. While the superfan buyer remains anonymous, Beth Ferester of Corcoran Ferester Realty held the rockin’ listing.
