A Rare Piece of Wilton History, Levi Coley House, Just Listed for $1.7M

America is ringing in its 250th birthday this weekend, and while the Levi Coley House at 137 Sturges Ridge Road in Wilton, isn’t quite that old, it still holds notable significance in the Revolutionary War-era town. It’s one of the only historic Greek Revivals you’ll find in Wilton, built in 1848 and still standing tall. The architectural rarity just listed, priced at $1.695 million.

At first glance, it is evident that the home’s architecture and exterior evoke a sense of stately grandeur and charm. A grand portico supported by four Doric columns is an enthralling feature upon arrival before making your way inside to a stately yet elegant and cozy atmosphere. While the home dates back nearly two centuries and has beautifully preserved details such as five original fireplaces, it’s also been updated for modern comfort. Wide-plank floors, soaring ceilings, and a four-season glass solarium harken to the past while spaces like the redone kitchen with Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances have stepped the 3,615-square-foot, four-bedroom home into the 21st-century.

According to documents at the Wilton Historical Society, Levi Coley built the home and his heirs sold it to Nathan Belden (as in Belden Hill Road). After his passing, the majestic Greek Revival sold to Henry A. Hurlbutt (heard of Hurlbutt Road?). It stayed in the Hurlbutt family until 1956.

Levi Coley House may not be a Colonial treasure, but it is certainly a Wilton treasure. It’s listed with Megan Sullivan of Douglas Elliman.
