Amy’s Kitchen, a brand known for its health-focused frozen meals, has been a pioneer in organic food products since 1987. Way before the health food category blew up with probiotic sodas, overnight oats, and cauliflower crusts. The company’s CEO, Andy Berliner, and his wife, Rachel, have a dreamy beach escape 35 miles north of San Francisco that seems to align with Amy’s ethos. Showcasing high-quality materials and a wellness-oriented atmosphere, the contemporary meets Balinese-style home is now asking $16 million.
Sitting steps from the sandy shores of Stinson Beach, the 1,809-square-foot residence has a unique configuration not often seen in North California, or the United States for that matter. It’s made up of Bali Joglos—traditional Indonesian structures with peaked roofs—that all open to prolific gardens, a pool, and easy-breezy patios. The sellers shared, “The moment we saw the garden, we fell in love with it. When we first enter the garden, we feel we are entering a tropical paradise. It is so private and colorful and green and you can look up and see the mountains, Mount Tam. We just felt we were in a retreat, so whenever we go there, it feels like an oasis.”
Stepping inside, the property’s five bedrooms are spread out across the joglos while the main living areas are all concentrated at one end of the home. The kitchen is especially filled with light, set underneath one of the glassy peaks, and many of the rooms boast picturesque, beachy views.
Though they’ve cherished their time here, the sellers are moving on in search of a retreat in the actual tropics. “Our daughter, son-in-law, and grandson moved to Hawaii so we need to try to replace this magical house with something over there.”
