AVENUE ANTIQUES ART & DESIGN AT THE ARMORY

One of the world’s rarest blue diamonds, Harry Benson’s photos of the Beatles pillow fight, a square cut Gio Ponti wooden cabinet, a twinkling 3-tier Spanish chandelier were all among the eclectic offerings from more than 60 top-tier exhibitors at the show in early October. The opening gala supported the New York School of Interior Design scholarships and a Day of Design featured lectures and book signings by Mario Buatta, Ellie Cullman, Geoffrey Bradfield, Sandra Nunnerly, Vincente Wolf and more.

INTERNATIONAL FINE ART AND ANTIQUE DEALERS SHOW

The grande dame of the season, now in its 25th year since started by Brian and Anna Houghton in 1989, the International Fine Art and Antique Dealers Show opens with a gala benefit for Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Guests pay $200-$5000 for champagne cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and early access to the booths. 

 GGGREAT TO GO

In a pop up shop on Park Avenue, versatile designer Nina Griscom showed off her collection of stylish hair calf bags in a variety of handy, convenient shapes and sizes with horn detailing zipper pulls and clasps. Socialite shoppers took home clutches, iPad covers, handbags and notably the popular two-tone Lily tote in contrasting calfskin and nubuck. www.NinaGriscom.com     

   

 ROBERT INDIANA INSPIRATION PIECES AT LISA PERRY

Fans of Robert Indiana’s graphic works on display in the Whitney Museum’s “Beyond Love” retrospective can cross the street and take home an Indiana-inspired item. Results of Lisa Perry‘s cooperation with the artist — a limited edition collection of sweaters, coasters, pillows carry the recognizable number images in bold primary colors.  Also available are prints by the artist which can be purchased from online marketplace Artspace. www.lisaperrystyle.com, www.artspace.com

 WHEY TO GO

Midnight Moon, Pleasant Ridge Reserve, Rupert are among the dozens of artisanal cheeses in a case that greets visitors to Lucy’s Whey, a new specialty food shop, cafe and wine bar on Lexington Avenue just below 93rd Street on the Upper East Side. Besides cheeses and charcuterie to take out, there are tables for customers sipping espresso and coffee and snacking on handmade sandwiches and salads and other treats. After dark, the cafe converts to a wine bar with crostini, salads, small bites, craft beers and a carefully selected list of wines. www.lucyswhey.com
