Tomato To-Do.

The Tomato Grower’s Handbook

My dad once tricked my mother by overnight mixing in some plants with mini tomato sprouts among the fruitless seedlings she’d planted the day before. She wouldn’t have been astonished and fooled by that next-day “miracle” if she’d had a copy of Holly Farrell’s comprehensive handbook. Living up to its subtitle, 150 charmingly illustrated pages tell “everything you need to know, from seed to harvest and beyond.” Descriptions of preparing the soil, saving and sowing the seeds, transplanting, watering, fertilizing, pruning are complemented with recipes and a glossary of tomato types. With spring officially arriving, the time is here to start prepping summer gardens.
