Power broker Steve Gold has been a regular on real estate reality TV shows, starting with his main role on Million Dollar Listing New York and most recently on Netflix’s Selling the City. And, whether he’s being filmed at the moment or not, he has been involved in many high-profile deals (including representing NYC properties for producer Baz Luhrmann and representing his client in the purchase of a loft owned by photographer Annie Leibovitz). But, it’s not everyday that we get a glimpse into the agent’s gold-standard, that is, homes he owns himself. This rental listing offers that chance as now his modernist SoHo penthouse is available for $49,000 per month.
The seasoned reality TV star and his wife extensively renovated the Manhattan loft after purchasing it in 2019. But, their life has evolved since then. “I’ve decided to put my family’s apartment on the market for rent as my wife gave birth to our second child, Lily, in October and the space no longer fits our needs,” Gold shares. “I hope the new tenants enjoy it as much as we have over the years.”
The 3,400-square-foot penthouse sits five stories above cobble-stoned Wooster Street, atop a circa-1920 co-op with just 13 units. A large open space, apt for entertaining and everyday relaxation, defines the loft and so does exceptional light. With northern, eastern, and western exposures, plus 14 windows and five skylights, every inch of the home feels bright.
It looks effortlessly cool, but much thought went into the design. According to an Architectural Digest feature, the sellers hand-selected many of the sublime details with interior designer Samuel Amoia, including the oak plank floors imported from Denmark, Ornare kitchen cabinetry, full stone slabs imported from Italy, and custom Venetian plasterwork. With elements like wood beams and a clawfoot tub as well, the pad boasts plenty of character.
The agent says, “Long-term, we are debating between selling or keeping it as an investment as the design and construction process for the loft has also been a labor of love.” For now, Gold, of The Corcoran Group, is handling the rental listing. Who else would bring his stunning penthouse to market?
