Makeup guru Sue Devitt painted her 1940s redbrick house bright white inside and out to make it seem airier and larger. The indoor/outdoor meditation room’s ceiling is lined with imported African thatch.

The living room has a well-traveled air, from the pair of Sri Lankan wooden armchairs to Masai warrior shields flanking a photograph Devitt took of a cheetah in the Serengeti.
The sofa is by Philippe Starck; the cushions, armchair, and side table are all from Homenature.
Also opening on to the meditation room, the dining room features a Baker table from Safavieh Home Furnishings, Crate & Barrel chairs, and a cast-iron chandelier by Carlyle Design Studio.
In the entry foyer, an African raffia bench is topped with pillows made from African fabrics; pictures from Devitt’s photography collection hang above.
The whitewashed kitchen features hand-poured concrete countertops, cabinetry by Smith River Kitchens, and hardware by Kraft.
Installed above the kitchen fireplace, a pair of sconces by Greg Yale lends modern contrast to a trio of African skateboards.
An Indonesian headboard adds extra texture to a bright blue guest bedroom.
French doors in Devitt’s lavender-painted master bath lead to the garden.
The side table and cushions in the meditation room are from Homenature; the sofa is from Janus et Cie.
Devitt converted the garage into a rose-trellised, boxwood-accented home office.
