Laurel Hill House, one of Weston’s most storied compounds, started life as a circa-1800s cabin. The original cabin interiors are now the cozy den in the expanded main house, still sporting the original log walls and stone fireplace. This is just a small part of a three-acre property that also includes a stone guest cottage and a log-cabin style art studio. And it’s as glamorous as it is rustic: Laurel Hill has served as the backdrop for more than 40 photo shoots, for the likes of Ralph Lauren and Abercrombie. It also starred in the 1975 The Stepford Wives movie, as the setting for the psychiatric session in which the good therapist counsels actress Katharine Ross’s creeped-out character to grab her kids and hit the road (spoiler alert: to no avail). The current owners—with an impressive combined CV that lists stints as record producer, photographer, restaurateur, gallery owner, interior designer and more—are credited with restoring and building out the property after it fell into disrepair in the 1990s. The picture-perfect interiors, totaling more than 5,000 square feet, are a lovely mix of reclaimed materials and high-end fixtures, all with bucolic views over wooded land and the river that runs through it. The property is listed for $1,285,000 with Christina McVaney and Angela Benzan of Higgins Group Real Estate.
