Lily Collins Parts Ways with Her Cool ‘Case Study’ Pasadena Gem in an Off Market Deal

While it’s unclear if ‘Emily in Paris’ star Lily Collins holds a fanciful chateau or idyllic flat in the City of Lights yet, one thing is for sure: The actress no longer owns this architectural marvel in California. Collins (daughter of Phil Collins) and her director husband, Charlie McDowell (son of Mary Steenburgen) just sold the circa-1947 gem in Pasadena in an off-market deal for exactly $6,128,188.

Mansion Global reports that the duo scooped the notable residence, which is one of Los Angeles’s prestigious post-war ‘Case Study’ houses, from none other than SNL legend Kristen Wiig. After falling head over heels for it in 2021, the then-engaged couple enlisted designer Emily Farnham to help them remodel it carefully and make it their own.

The 3,425-square-foot home’s spaces, which still shine with midcentury integrity and the era’s quintessential mix of natural brightness and wood-paneled warmth, were the picture of easy serenity when featured in Vogue last year. Filled with vintage decor and surrounded by views of sycamore and eucalyptus trees, it’s no wonder Collins told the fashion publication, “It is this safe, secluded oasis.”

Whoever has purchased the home gains not only their design upgrades and a sleek backyard with a pool and spa, poolside bar, and covered patio, but a piece of L.A. history. Father-son architects Kemper Normand and Kemper Normand Jr. designed the minimalist haven and a plaque out front proudly announces it is on the National Register of Historic Places.

For this quiet, off-market transaction, Ted Clark and Heather Lillard of Compass represented the celebrity sellers.
