Rihanna’s Stately Yet Glamorous Former London Rental Just Sold for £27.5M

A buyer has “found love” and dished out £27.5 million—almost $33.5 million USD—for this London residence where Rihanna previously resided. For two-and-a-half years, the singer and Fenty beauty founder paid £18,000/week to call this St. John’s Wood stunner “home.” The posh London was seen on the market in 2020 listed for £32 million—which is approximately $41 million—or available to rent for the same price Rihanna spent.

Designed by John Shaw Jr., the circa-1844 manor stands out as the only house designed by the architect to make it into the 21st century. Though the exterior looks as traditional as ever, contemporary interiors with glamorous touches add that bit of A-lister flair.

It certainly “shines bright like a diamond”—and not only because it was built for De Beers diamond tycoon Daniel Francis. Mark Pollack, co-founding Director of Aston Chase, shares, “This sale at circa £3,500 per sq.ft. represents a record price for the St John’s Wood area reflecting the substantial planning consent obtained, the large plot and the secure carriage drive which are amenities normally associated with homes further out in the suburbs of London.”

The home currently totals 6,332 square feet with eight bedrooms and a lift that spans all floors. Outside, a 21-foot terrace overlooks the private backyard. The property includes permission to build additional square footage and to add a swimming pool.

Savills and Aston Chase represented the property, with Stephen Lindsay of Savills introducing the buyer to the pricey listing.
