The sculptural newel post and finial of the main stair contrast with its ethereal white spindles, hinting at the mix of rough textures and expansive airy spaces throughout the house.
The materials the architect selected are traditional, but the floor plan is open and free-flowing. The interior design by Beth Wangman of i4design features a custom light fixture by Janke Glass Studios over a vintage dining table.
The high-ceiling kitchen is anchored by a massive island that functions as both a work station and a place for breakfast. The stools are vintage, and the pendant light is by Rejuvenation. The walls are painted in Benjamin Moore‘s Cliffside Gray, and the island cabinetry is in the same company’s Kendall Charcoal.
A custom cabinet divides the living area from the dining room; the floor lamps are by Restoration Hardware.
The fireplace surround is fieldstone, topped by a mantel of reclaimed wood. Club chairs by A. Rudin are upholstered in an Osborne & Little fabric, and the leather chairs are by Mitchell Gold+Bob Williams.
The mudroom features custom cabinetry stained blue-gray; the custom stools are covered in a Schumacher embroidered fabric and the pendant light is by Restoration Hardware.
The master bedroom in the eaves makes clear the complexity of the house’s roofline; the rug is by Tufenkian, the pendant light is by Troy Lighting, and the bed is by Restoration Hardware.
The master bath tub is by Hydrology, the fittings are by Sonoma Forge, and the floor tiles are by Dal Tile.
The home office on the main floor overlooks the lake. The desk is a custom design, the chairs by A. Rudin are covered in a Brentano fabric, the ottoman is from Crate & Barrel, and the pendant lights are by Visual Comfort.
