Angelina Jolie Seeks $29.9M for Iconic ‘DeMille Estate’ in L.A.

A-list movie star Angelina Jolie just listed her dreamy and iconic Los Angeles estate for a staggering $29.85 million. According to People, the actress, who hasn’t been on screen much recently, has said she will leave the city when her youngest children are grown and spend more time abroad. That time is seemingly coming this July as her twins turn 18, which may explain why she’s plotting a move.

Jolie purchased the refined residence, which was originally designed in 1913 by architect B. Cooper Corbett and acquired in 1916 by Cecil B. DeMille, in 2017 following her divorce from Brad Pitt. As well as offering tons of room for her six kids with 11,000 square feet of interior space and two acres of manicured grounds, the DeMille Estate is steeped in history fitting of her status as Hollywood royalty.

DeMille was pivotal in the film industry, helping to establish Los Angeles as the entertainment capital of the world and creating 70 movies during his career. This being the filmmaker’s home, it was a hub for cinematic creativity and socializing. Cementing its architectural and cultural legacy further, Mr. DeMille even combined the property’s Beaux-Arts mansion with the Dodd Residence next door: The former home Charlie Chaplin. A glass corridor links the structures.

Across the grand estate’s 2.1 acres of rolling lawns and 100-year-old trees, there is also a pool, pool house and fitness studio, guest house studio with its own gated entry, tea house, and a separate garage with security station. Private and posh, it certainly has a prestigious air as well as a strong sense of place with striking Hollywood Hills views.

The prized piece of L.A. was owned by the DeMille family until the 1980s and has been meticulously maintained. Rare indeed, Ernie Carswell of Sotheby’s International Realty and Jon Grauman with Resident Group share Jolie’s listing.
