It’s one of the biggest holiday weeks of the year in the Hamptons. And, what better way to start it with a splash then with news of the East End’s biggest listing of 2026 so far? Boasting 500 feet of ocean frontage, 75 W End Road in East Hampton just hit the market for a jaw-dropping $165 million. Not just any ultra-luxury beach estate, it’s actually the former Hamptons escape of American fashion icon Calvin Klein, who sold it discreetly in 2021.
Though it has morphed and evolved, the legendary residence has only changed hands three times in its over 130-year history. Originally built in 1894 by Laura Brevoort Sedgwick James, the home is thought to be one of the oldest in the Georgica Dunes. Juan Trippe, founder of Pan American World Airways, purchased it next in 1935 and expanded the compound. Fashion designer Calvin Klein and his now ex-wife, Kelly Rector, became the 8.22-acre estate’s next stewards in 1981.
Under Klein, the shingle-style home had a thorough renovation by celebrated late architect Thierry Despont. The current owners have continued the prestigious property’s journey of improvement, with Bellwether Architects leading their recent renovation and expansion. Parisian designer Tristan Auer and Hollander Designs were key to beautifying the interiors and the grounds as well.
Today, custom millwork, walls of windows, and a white, crisp palette across the 9,000-square-foot floor plan still harken to the timeless taste Calvin Klein is famed for. It’s easy to imagine the who’s who of fashion gathering here in the past and in the future, with guests arriving in awe to the foyer with a two-story metal fireplace or mingling across the 5,000 square feet of terraces, decks, and gardens.
The seven-bedroom home is clearly meant for high-impact entertaining. It offers lavish perks like a main kitchen, prep kitchen, and staff kitchen as well as a dramatic domed tower with a family room and wet bar. Of course, unbelievable views of the Atlantic Ocean and Georgica Pond and amenities like a tennis court are further wow factors that contribute to the $165 million price. Shockingly, though, there’s no pool.
According to the Robb Report, Klein sold the property in two parts: The main parcel for $75 million and a land parcel for $10 million. The sellers, who are seeking far more for the oceanfront prize, have tasked James Petrie of Compass with the listing.
