Passing Time, a work by Jack Pierson, hangs above an Antonio Citterio sofa from Flexform (opposite); the linen-canvas blend on the sofa and matching armless sofa and ottoman is from Donghia. The circa-1980 Paolo Piva coffee table is from B&B Italia; the black armchair is by Christian Liaigre.
A custom light fixture by Jaffe hangs in the stairwell leading from the entryway to the living room.
In an effort to save their 1969 Norman Jaffe house from almost certain ruin, Sandy and Stephen Perlbinder moved the structure 350 feet inland from its precarious perch on a storm-battered dune. Their son-in-law, architect Cristian Sabellarosa, added new east and west wings clad in a weather-resistant mahogany and polycarbonate shell.
Two Asymmetric chaises by Harry Bertoia are positioned alongside the east wing.
Landscape architect Christopher LaGuardia created a new pond on the property and used the excavated soil to build up a dune in front of the house.
A suite of butterfly chairs overlooks the swimming pool (hidden from view) and the ocean, between which the original house formerly stood. The umbrella is from Janus et Cie.
Sabellarosa designed the table in the sunroom, which leads to the master suite below. The Hans Wegner Wishbone chairs are from ABC Carpet & Home.
Jaffe designed all the cabinetry in the kitchen, where West Virginia slate serves as both countertop and flooring material on the mezzanine.
An original Hans Hokanson wood relief hangs above a vintage British campaign dresser in the study.
